He also gave Peter money for him to get power or the gift of God because his heart was not right in the sight of God (i.e. he was filled with gall of bitterness or rude behaviour or anger; bond or connected or from the heart (i.e. iniquity) Acts 8:9-25 (see vs. 12-13, 18-24)

They were Pharisee (a Pharisee believe resurrection, spirit and angels) without the gospel. They believe the gospel and preached the gospel or message of circumcision, which is against the gospel of Christ Acts 23:8-9, 15:1-9 (see vs. 1, 5)
